from GSMArena:
Analyst firm IDC released its report for the first quarter of 2013, which chronicles big rises and great falls. There’s nothing new at the top – Android and iOS account for 92.3% of smartphone shipments – but the fight for third position is heating up.

Android is still in the lead (in fact, it’s widening its lead) and grabbed 75% of the sales. Samsung is by far the biggest Android maker, with a share of 41.1%. Other Android makers have single digit market shares, with some falling below the 1% threshold.
Apple shipped the greatest Q1 volume of iPhones ever, but even with that saw iOS market share decline to 17.3% (from 23% in Q1 2012).
Android and iOS together account for 199.5 million smartphones shipped in the first quarter of 2013, up 59.1% over Q1 of the previous year.
Windows Phone was the fastest growing OS and jumped into third place with 3.2%. Nokia is the main driver of WP growth, with nearly 80% of all Windows Phone handsets sold in Q1 carrying the Nokia logo. Nokia has shipped 20.3 million Lumia phones in total.
BlackBerry slipped from third to fourth place (6.4% market share to 2.9%) but there is some good news, its new BlackBerry OS 10 has sold 1 million smartphones during its first quarter of availability (that’s just the Z10, the Q10 and Q5 were unveiled just a few days ago). Still, the majority of BlackBerry smartphones shipped in the first quarter ran on the old BB OS 7.
Linux held on to 1% market share (down from 2.1%) but there are plenty of new OSes incoming – Tizen, Mozilla, SailFish and Ubuntu.
Symbian saw the biggest decline in market share, down to just 0.6%. Small surprise since Nokia and Japanese carriers (the last bastions of Symbian) have moved on. Still, IDC expect the veteran OS to live on in 2014 with very small shipment volumes.

My Take:

Oh well, since I am such a “poor” being for not being able to afford Samsung Galaxy phone, I won’t doubt the figures I am seeing on this article. One of my phones is an Android phone (just Froyo!), and I am a strong Android believer. Android is ‘everywhere’! Regardless of cellphone, tablet or netbook brand, there is an Android and it is as universal as Windows. You won’t have problems on finding a compatible app for Android, just that in my Android Froyo-operated Torque Droidz Glee, I can’t install Instagram, yet I was able to install FB and Pixlr Express. I can download the games and apps I want for FREE, even WordPress!
If my Torque Droidz Glee phone is not that slow and quick to get a WiFi signal, I can turn my cellphone into my PC where I could type my blogwrite in a most convenient way.
Even if my gadget is not Samsung as long as it is ANDROID, it simply makes my day. I am even thinking of buying an Android-powered netbook from CD-R King that fits my budget and I could take ANYWHERE where WiFi is available, I could play games and type my blogwrites.
I dunno, I simply find ‘universal’ operating systems to be convenient and hassle-free!

On Sarah Geronimo’s defense on Charice against detractors

from Push:

Sarah Geronimo was quick to defend fellow singer Charice from bashers, stating that it’s unfair for other people to bash the international singing sensation just because her self-expression defies what the society expects of her. “We have to respect her, hindi dahil si Charice Pempengcosiya kundi dahil tao siya. Bawat isa [sana mag]respetuhan, tama na, pabayaan na natin siCharice,” said the Popstar Princess in an interview with Push.com.ph and other ABS-CBN entertainment reporters.

Charice is persistently plagued with intrigues as photos of her new hair color and tattoos have been going viral on the Internet, fueling speculations about her rumored lesbian preferences. To which Sarah replied, “Alam mo ang magagawa lang naman natin para sa kanya is to pray for her. Wala naman tayo sa posisyon para masabi kung ano ang tama o mali para sa kanya. Basta tayo magdasal tayo kung ano yung the best para sa personal na buhay niya at singing career niya.”
Likewise, Charice’s mom, Raquel, recently stated in an interview that she would support her daughter should she decide to confirm that she’s a lesbian in public. “Ang sinasabi ng puso ko at isip ko bilang ina ay hayaan ko siyang ilantad kung ano ang tunay na katauhan niya. Kung ano ang gusto niya, dahil doon siya magiging maligaya,” Raquel reportedly told ABS-CBNNews.com last Friday, May 10.
On a different note, Sarah lightened things up as she pointed out that she herself had trouble finding her own identity. Asked if she remembered going through an awkward stage, she cheerfully answered, “Awkward stage ko ito ngayon. Ngayon ko pa lang pina-find myself. Ngayon ko lang iniisip kung anong gusto ko para sa buhay ko. Ito yung quarter life crisis, yung may marami kang tanong.
As it is, living such a sheltered life also makes her wonder what it’s like to be responsible for her own decisions. “Kailangan na. 25 years old na po ako. Kailangan maging independent,” she beamed.
I simply admire the way she defends Charice. Despite being raised in a conservative environment, I am glad at how she understood what Charice is currently going through. I realize that the huge transformation that Charice went though is such a mindfuck, but it’s not right to mindlessly judge her, throw a hell of homophobic comments on her.

My take: On Vice Ganda and his points on Nancy Binay and inexperience in politics that jump into senatorial race

Thanks to GetRealPhilippines.com for this article:

The latest buzz that has been circulating around the chattering classes is how ABS-CBN comedic talent Vice Ganda made a tongue-in-cheek remark when asked if he had any plans to pursue a career in public service.
“Gusto ko president ako agad, yung wala kang background, pero mataas agad, parang ‘yung mga pulitiko lang ngayon. Walang background, pero senador agad.”
Asked if he is referring to any senatorial bets in particular, the 37-year-old comedian said, triggering laughter, “Sila Nancy Binay, sino pa ba?”
He added: “Wala akong sinabing masama ah, sinabi ko lang siya as an example, kasi totoo naman, ‘di ba? Wala siyang political background, pero senador agad. It’s a fact, ‘di ba?”
When asked for a “serious” answer to whether he sees himself entering politics, Vice Ganda said, “Baka, siguro pag matalinong-matalino na ako, [pag] marami akong alam tungkol sa pulitika.”
“Ayoko naman ‘yung… ang dami kayang walang alam, tapos kumakandidato, pasok sa top 6 sa survey,” he said, drawing laughter from reporters at the press conference.
At that point, everyone was laughing, except for Nancy Binay, of course.
A person made of sterner stuff, regardless of the truth, would easily shrug off such statements, made by a comedian of all people. But this is Nancy Binay we’re talking about. She’s gotten a lot of flak about her lack of qualifications and general aversion to discussing issues on the campaign trail, but she feels compelled to defend herself each and every time:

“While I respect his opinion, kung ‘yun ‘yung tingin niya… basta ang importante, unang-una, meron naman akong vice na nag-e-endorse sa akin ‘di ba, tapos meron pa akong Mother Lily, so I think made na made na talaga ako,” …
Asked if she was hurt by Vice Ganda’s remark, the young Binay said, “Actually, alam mo sa ‘kin pag alam kong hindi totoo, hindi ako nasasaktan, e. I think ganoon kami pinalaki ng aking mga magulang, lalo na ng father ko, kasi we’ve been in politics for more than 20 years.”
And in the same article, she also claimed that it’s understandable that Vice Ganda would make such a remark due to his manok in the last election:
“To set things straight, ‘yung kay Vice Ganda, hindi rin ako nagulat eh, kasi nung 2010… in fact he campaigned for doon sa kalaban ng kapatid ko, so I’m not surprised,” she said.
Of course, Nancy Binay. It’s all about past political grudges, like everything else in this country. Political grudges never get buried. But it still doesn’t change the fact that the only thing you have going for you in the senate race is popularity, according to the surveys. You don’t talk about your platform, or policies, and you’ve been avoiding debates.
Then again, politicians reflect the society that they govern. It’s a big question mark if Filipinos understand what big words (to them, at least) like platform, policy, and debate truly entail, anyway.
***
Egged on by Vice Ganda’s remarks, the chattering classes are so busy showing outrage at Nancy Binay that it seems they’ve focused on her instead of looking for other deeper, more underlying issues, if any, with regards to how our society approaches elections.
On the other hand, Vice Ganda’s remark is a rare instance of a showbiz personality actually making a valid point. Whether Filipinos like it or not, that tongue-in-cheek remark says something about us Filipinos that we may not like to hear.
Filipinos would rather condemn the politician instead of the voters. They just don’t get it. People like Nancy Binay and Bam Aquino, whom Vice Ganda conveniently forgot to mention, are examples of people who can run and win because the people allow them to, despite having no prior relevant experience to entering in politics. And no, Bam Aquino’s “microfinance” thingy doesn’t count. While Filipinos continue to get swayed by dance moves, catchy jingles, perceptions of popularity and being winnable, and money in exchange for votes, unqualified politicians will keep on laughing all the way to the bank.
Demanding platforms and strong positions from your prospective “public servants” is a practice that needs to be ingrained into the very bottom foundation of the Filipino culture and psyche. If you want people to make smart political decisions, you need to ingrain in them the notion of how to purchase smartly. In case Filipinos forget, they also need to focus on the substance of what each politician brings, and not the form. Plus, they also need to learn to say no to the wrong things.
Filipinos take a passive-aggressive approach to things. This type of behavior doesn’t bode well at all for any attempts to hold the government accountable to the people. Impunity is the norm here because people are reluctant to tell you directly that what you did is wrong, or against the law. When hiya is the primary driver of such as in Filipino society, face-saving often comes at the cost of proactively upholding what is correct and law-abiding.
If you view your politicians as gods who can do no wrong, you’re not helping yourself, and you’re not helping your country. Filipinos cannot afford to be afraid to be timid and passive about evaluating their public servants’ performance, and they cannot afford to be complacent and uncritical of themselves. Filipinos need to make their public servants work for them, not the other way around, and definitely they can’t afford to be worked over by the public servants, too.
The Filipinos would do well to learn from Vice Ganda’s “liberation”. Vice Ganda is known to be blunt. I think, though, that if you’re a comedian, it’s but natural you have to be. Neither does he conform to the “macho Filipino” or the “demure Filipina” stereotypes that pervade Filipino society. If you do not fit into the pre-defined roles that Filipino society has set for you, they don’t try to understand you; they judge you prematurely and oftentimes, make fun of you, or use you for cheap laughs.
The focus in not on his gender; Filipinos need to liberate themselves from traditions and old ways of thinking that have served to be nothing but chains that keep them pinned down. To do this, Filipinos have to be self-critical. They can’t afford to keep up their stubbornness and they can’t afford to keep sticking to detrimental traditions.
The bottom line is simple:
Filipinos cannot rely on their showbiz celebrities and their politicians to do their thinking and “changing” for them. If Filipinos truly want to change their society, they need to change their own ways of thinking. An ethic of personal accountability needs to be ingrained in Filipinos as a collective.
This doesn’t apply just to elections. It is actually what happens in between elections where we need to do the dirty work of proactively holding people to account through the system.

MY TAKE:

There are moments that I do find Vice Ganda insipid; however, in his point about Nancy Binay and jumping into higher position without enough related experience is what makes me agree with him.

The blame or criticism should not be pointed only to the candidates alone, but most of all, to the voters. It is undeniable na naiiwan sa bahay ang logical ability natin, especially when choosing the right candidate for the position.

He ain’t dumb in making a judgement when it comes to politics. A note should be taken na bago karirin ni Vice ang pagsa-stand-up comedy, Political Science ang course na na-take ni Vice Ganda noon sa FEU. Tapos, barangay captain pa pati yung tatay niya bago namatay.  I guess, his knowledge at that time he was taking PolSci is pertinent enough in justifying his point. So, komo’t bading, walang kapasidad mag-justify?

I have previously mentioned about Filipinos and their huge weakness towards those who ‘play underdogs’. Nancy Binay is primary example of an inexperienced candidate playing as underdog to garner sympathy from the people, while Risa Hontiveros is deemed ‘bitch’ to the viewing public. There is a huge difference between those words. I think Risa Hontiveros is making more sense, has more ability to justify her points.

After this, I doubt Filipinos will ever learn from the 2013 Senatorial elections.

On a side note, I highly doubt about the reliability of PCOS machines. I don’t think it is certified daya-free. I think it can easily be manipulated or hacked. One of my colleagues even mentioned that in Abra, vote-buying was really strong.

Thoughts?

Nancy Binay Seeks to Pass Anti-Debate Law

Reblogged from philippine savvy:

Click to visit the original post

It's final. Nancy Binay have successfully bagged one of the most coveted spots in the Senatorial race. In one of the most highly covered national election in Philippine history, Nancy Binay had defied all odds, mostly from netizens who viewed her as unworthy, unqualified, and arrogant enough to even accept the nomination.

But clearly, the Vice-Presidential daughter cannot be swayed.

Dear Nancy Binay:   While I may not in the right position to say this, as I don't have much ability when it comes to debate, allow me to clarify things about debate. A debate is not a simply mere argument or bickering that could make you feel you are being bullied. The purpose of debate is for you to showcase your capability to defend yourself, express your thoughts when a person gives an opinion about you, and justify. Kahit saan ate, may mga moments na feel mo mapapalaban ka (not in a violent or palengkera sense). Sa job interview, you are being questioned to the extent your are being castigated. When you propose a project or law, siguradong dadaan sa pagkukwestyon 'yan. Sabihin nating nawawala ako sa point ng "debate", but what I am trying to show to you all is not the literal debate. I am trying to show you that in life, almost everyday is a debate. If you do not equip yourself with enough skills to justify yourself, lalamunin ka lang.   I hope you won't take this against you, that you are being bullied. You've run for the Senatorial position, expect a lot of questioning when you are making a proposal, passing the law or bill. As a senator, you have to defend you points, you have to justify yourself. I seriously find passing an anti-debate law very very nonsensical----whether this is a satire, joke or not. Graduate ka ng UP (regardless of what course you took), I'm pretty sure that debate is everywhere in UP. Nancy, you ran for this position, you've won it. Seriously, Pilipinas, Anyare? It makes me cringe at how Filipinos prefer women candidates that possess subservient figure than palaban one. Risa Hontiveros has more capability than her, mas maraming karanasan, how come she hasn't made it? If you are applying for a position that requires leadership skills, a 'palaban' attitude is required.

A Heartbreaking story of a mother abandoned by her son

I dunno where my friend got this story, but this was really heartbreaking.

==================================================================================

( written as it was reported)

It happened in reality and may happen again and again and again…and….

It goes like this…

…Three men were wandering by the beach. It was almost after Isha… so they chose a nice clean spot, settled there and started to have the dinner they bought from a nearby fast-food resturant. They noticed an old lady wandering around… One of them couldn’t help but go ask her what is she doing… as she, seemingly, was hungry therefore picking up left-overs thrown here and there to eat … she seemed worried and anxious, as well. So this guy approached her and asked what’s wrong?? She looked at him anxiously and told him that her son dropped her there and promised to pick her up at night and that she’s been there since noon. The three guys asked her for her address. They decided to drop her there, thinking perhaps her son couldn’t make it. She took a piece of paper out of her pocket and gave it to the guys saying her son wrote down their address in case she was lost. The guys opened the paper and got SHOCKED!!

The son wrote: Whoever finds this lady, should take her to the nearest Home!

Sad, shocked and annoyed the guys couldn’t tell the lady what was actually written in there. She looked too old, too weak to take it. So, they tried hard to convince her to go with them… to help her look for her house or even son… or maybe take her to their families who’d help. But she refused wholeheartedly saying her son is coming to take her and that she can’t go and leave him. He’d get worried. (She didn’t want to worry him….( SubhanAllah!)

Helplessly, the three guys left to their homes. One of them, couldn’t sleep, so he decided to go back to that beach and check on the lady. As soon as he got dressed and left to there, he found an ambulance, a police car and a crowd of people. He made his way through them all… and when he got there… he saw the old lady…dead and pale… covered by some white cold sheet. He gave out a loud cry and started sobbing…

When he asked what happened… he was told that this lady was waiting for her son… worried and concerened that something wrong might have happened to that son who didn’t show up to take her home… her blood pressure rose up real high causing her a stroke…. she died…

- The End -
=================================================================================

It isn’t surprising to give you an idea that an old lady was abandoned by her son.

I dunno where to start, as I am not in the right position to make some ‘sermon’ on being a good son/daughter as admittedly, I am a rebellious daughter to my parents and have some ‘distant’ moments towards them. However, abandoning parents is as abhorable as abandoning your child. There should be no reason for anyone to do the same thing as what the old lady experienced above.

On Pamela Anderson and the dinner invitation to PNoy

Reblogged from Anything in Random, by MSP:

Hmmm... I guess people should not judge about Pamela Anderson and her strong advocacy towards animal rights.

However, I would've been more appreciative of her if she joins Brigitte Bardot's animal rights foundation--it is less propaganda-ic, and more honest. Brigitte Bardot is known to be an animal rights activist ever since.

For one, she invited PNoy formally and politely on a dinner in LA for the latter's decision to protect Mali the elephant by placing her in a better shelter.

Thanks MSP Anything in Random for your thoughts. Well, I understand how most Filipinos look sexy starlets with much disdain and great deal of double-standards, but I simply could not understand why they have to judge the likes of Pamela Anderson and question her credibility simply for being a merely sexy bombshell. As a matter of fact, in the Philippine Movie Industry, we have actresses out here packaged with “wholesome” imagery but in reality are professional prostitutes. Give them 150k pesos and they’re yours for a night (I give Mocha Uson a credit for mentioning that sordid fact). Casting couch is alive in well in our local entertainment industry, and before you rant at some ‘sexy starlet’ or ‘foreign artist’ or someone’s entertainment industry with the same sordid case, please make sure your idols are clean, and that our movie industry is practicing high moral values. Another problem is we, spectators and even the upper echelons of this industry, tolerate this kind of scenario. I can even recommend you to check a certain PinoyExchange thread and that gives you an idea what our favorite celebs do behind closed doors. [Side Note: Yeah I know! It’s just a freaking urban legend. But who knows, this may help resolving the mysteries surrounding the artists or the industry in general] So, komo’t starlet ka, wala kang credibility to make a stand in your advocacies? Pammy is right with her advocacies, and I strongly NOT tolerate animal abuse in any form. As much as I would like to take a peek of a certain animal LIVE at our neighborhood zoos, I have no choice but to let them go. I want them to be free and happy. They ain’t getting much nutrition they need at zoos. If my palette is ready, I would go and become a vegetarian. Besides, it would even help me lose a great deal of poundage since being at 79 kilos is DANGEROUS for me and for my petite frame. MSP is right though at comparing Pammy with Krazy Aquino. Though not quite appropriate comparison, Pammy has better track record than Krazy. At least si Pammy hindi ninyo makikitang ipapangalandakan niya on National TV nakikipag-affair siya sa may asawa and to top of it, tangkain pang agawin sa nagmamay-ari, na kapag nasaktan manghihingi ng awa sa madlang pipol. If Pammy has lots of affairs with different men, she is making sure they are available and not attached with any girl. While United States might be perceived to be “liberated” than Philippines, if a celebrity caught having an affair with a married celebrity, he/she will expect a flack from American netizens, labeling them douche or slut or whore. Krazy may have never bared her flesh on screen (though she has always been trying TOOO hard to be sexy), but her shady affairs, discombobulating way of handing relationships, and pathetic whining when things goin’ fuck-up is highly publicized it’s goddamn annoying. If there are any “papampam” starlets out there, Krazy is so far the big-time attention/fame whore of all time… FOR NOTHING. A note should be taken she has the habit of doing her dirty laundry in public. Cringe-inducing, ‘eh? There is nothing wrong with Pammy inviting PNoy for a dinner date in LA. Pareho naman silang libre, jackpot pa si PNoy, it’s just that ang awkward lang talaga. Mabuti naman ang intention ni Pammy, so why give a fuzz Filipino netizens? If Korean netizens are already cringe-inducing due to their over-the-top reactions, it’s the same thing with Filipinos. As a matter of fact, they try to proclaim how “intelligent” and “rational” they are while they are more capable of throwing ad hominem reactions than Korean netizens.

Dear Apple: One more lawsuit against Samsung, expect more trucks with truckload of coins as payment.

[Warning to non-Tagalog speakers: Contains Tagalog words]

From GSMArena:

Apple has requested the US District court to allow it to add the Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone to the list of the Samsung products that are guilty of violating its patents.

According to a report from FOSS Patents, Apple has analyzed the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone and the company has concluded that the device is an infringing product.

The Cupertino’s currently has 22 products in its claim and if the company intends to add the Galaxy S4 to the list, then Apple might remove one infringing device from its case. On the other hand, the South Korean also has about 22 Apple devices in its counter-suit.

However, both the companies will have to reduce the number of devices to 10 on each side and reduce the number of patents questioned to five per side.

——————————————————————————————————–

Seriously, demanda ulit??!?!?

Apple, wala ba kayong kasawaan? Nag-demanda na kayo last year, nanalo na kayo, ngayon demanda ulit just because Samsung Galaxy S4 and the company is an infringing product according to your analysis?

Sorry to the Apple fans, as much as I embrace originality, have you guys heard of the word C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N?? Has anyone out there realized that in order for Apple to survive the industry, they have to take a cue from other companies—even copied ideas from other companies, including Samsung? You can give a try check Google and you will see what Apple has copied. Speaking of computers, they could not even beat IBM. Apple may have the most-sought-after software in the world, yet they could not outshine other companies and their inventions. How many people in the world who are using Android or Windows as compared to iOS? USA is gaga over iPhone, but how about the rest of the world?

Other companies were “copying” or getting concepts from other companies, but do they sue them?

Apple, you are so OA, huh?!??!

I won’t care if y’all call me a penniless whining bitch simply for ranting at Apple. I even tried few of their gadgets at one of the Power MAC center branches and ain’t user friendly. One of my affluent friends told me he’d rather prefer buying/using Sony VAIO than MACBook. For me, it not that ergonomically-structured for my fingertips. It’s too flat for me to typespeed and figure out if I am pressing F or G key. Also, it’s hard to download a song file on any Apple Gadget, especially iPod. You REALLY have to download from iTunes. Too exclusive, and expensive.

Apple, if you are thinking of suing Samsung again, expect Samsung to pay you another 30 trucks of truckload of coins per truck.

Election 2013: Musings and Rants on the latest Results

Pictures/Screenshots/Results courtesy of The Philippine Star. Kamsahamnida!

comelec-ppcrv-results

eleksyon 2013

I can’t help but feeling frustrated about the results of 2013 Senatorial Elections.

I could tolerate Grace Poe, Antonio Trillianes IV (eventhough my mom hates him), Cynthia Villar and Bam Aquino (eventhough he lacks experience in Politics, well at least he has leadership experience). But Nancy Binay, JV Ejercito, Loren Legarda and Gringo Honasan making it to the magic 12???

KABOBOHAN!

It’s either of the following reasons:

> PCOS machines malfunctioned (again?) or infiltrated
> Votes were bought again, or
> People are simply stupid

I — as well as the so-called “educated people” — hate NANCY BINAY not because she is “baluga”, “negra”, but her only experience prior to running for the Senatorial race is simply being a Personal Assistant to her father Vice President Jejomar Binay and a housewife. If she is thinking for a candidacy, hindi senador agad. Maranasan muna niya maging Barangay Captain or Konsehal man lang bago siya mag-aim for a bigger position. Sure, ang daming ganyan sa Pilipinas tuwing eleksyon, si FPJ nga kumandidato PRESIDENTE AGAD, but if you are on your right mind, would you ever think of following their paths like aiming for big-time position while not experiencing being on the low ranks? It’s like, in a Call Center setting, you never experienced taking calls yet you aimed for a Managerial position in Operations.

Stupid. Really Stupid, eh?

Gringo Honasan. Seriously, wala man lang siya nagawa sa Sorsogon maging sa buong Pilipinas, all these years he has been “Enrile’s dog”. Good work ethic and attendance is not enough. Perform to the best that you can, and most importantly, hindi nagpapasimuno ng kaguluhan sa Pilipinas.

Kung baga sa Call Center, perfect attendance and adherance nga, QA/AHT/CSAT bagsak. Kahit man lang either QA or CSAT man lang ipasa man lang eh.

Loren Legarda? Seriously, being Vice President is NOT FOR YOU, but I no longer want you to be a Senator again. Being a political butterfly, opportunist and trapo is such a pain in everybody’s ass.

JV Ejercito? Please, do you really deserve this position? What qualities that you have that Dr. Loi Ejercito and Jinggoy did not have? Present your BETTER qualifications please. Thanks You!

For now, I won’t be questioning Bam Aquino, eventhough he is simply banking the popularity of Ninoy and Noynoy. As for Sonny Angara? Oh well, I am captivated by your smile and I think you are sexy, but please, leave your family interest in the corner and if you are thinking establishing APECO, please make sure walang nasasagaan na mga indigenous people na may kinabubuhay.

To those who made it to the Magic 12, do not let the odds that favored you to be messed up and start doing your job!

Showbiz Nostalgia: Isko Moreno was used to be bashed by Inday Barretto while he was a teenstar

meme1

This humor picture — or can I say meme? — is my offer to you readers in the light of Barretto family shenanigans and Election 2013.

For those who were babies or not yet born in 1993 and 1994, Isko Moreno joined showbusiness thru German Moreno’s THAT’s ENTERTAINMENT and he was on the same batch as Ara Mina, Patricia Javier (ex-Genesis Canlapan), Francine Prieto (ex-Ana Marie Falcon), and DJ Durano. Prior to joining showbiz, he hails from a poor family in Tondo and at the age of 10, he sought for alternatives in making a living by pushing a cart and going house-to-house to gather old newspapers and used bottles, then reselling them at a local junk dealer, until he was discovered by a talent scout Wowie Roxas, becoming a part of That’s Entertainment, and the rest is history.

So what’s with Inday Barretto and what was her relevance to Isko Moreno anyway?

For those who hasn’t been a spectator to showbiz on the same year Isko Moreno rose to fame, Isko Moreno was partnered to Claudine Barretto in Seiko Film’s Muntik na Kitang Minahal, and Eat All You Can. He was also perceived as one of the potential suitor to Claudine alongside Eric Fructuoso and Fredmore Delos Santos, until I heard from someone that Inday Barretto disliked Isko and Eric, and she prefers Fredmore. I didn’t exactly know what she said, but when I checked one of the episodes of ABS-CBN’s now-defunct Showbiz Linggo, I spotted Isko Moreno was breaking to tears while answering the harsh words thrown by Mrs. Barretto against him. I didn’t exactly know what was it, but I suppose she threw belittling words against Isko for being ‘poor’ and ‘Tondo boy’. Few years later, Isko Moreno jumped into the “tittilating films” bandwagon, Claudine rose to being a potential teenstar, and another few years later, Isko Moreno jumped into the political bandwagon in 1998 while Claudine Barretto rose to becoming “teleserye princess”.

Fast forward to 2013, Isko Moreno is currently running for his 2nd term as Vice-Mayor of City of Manila, with ex-President Joseph Estrada running for Mayor as his running mate under Team UNA. Meanwhile, Inday Barretto is currently experiencing more scrutiny than understanding for lambasting her daughter Gretchen Barretto thru Ricky Lo’s Funfare column on Philippine Star due to alleged bullying made by Gretchen and Marjorie Barretto on Claudine Barretto, making the latter being made looking mentally unstable on cyberspace. While this may be Gretchen Barretto’s fault, and Gretchen is truly evil, the issue doesn’t spare not only Inday Barretto, but elder brother JayJay Barretto and Gia Barretto-Reyes, sister because what all they did was they simply unleashing their family stench, they simply opened a can of worms, especially when it was publicized that Claudine Barretto is allegedly bipolar.

I do not take sides with Inday Barretto, eventhough I understand why the hell she is venting like that. For the record, she has her own kind of evil. While JayJay Barretto is kind of dubious, I can give him a credit for mentioning that his mom has never been nice to the maids. I suddenly remembered the harsh treatment and belittling words Isko Moreno has experienced from Mrs. Barretto. I do not sympathize JayJay though, but I understand his point when telling something about his mother.

If you guys are going to think of it, look at them now. Sure, Isko Moreno may have lapses at the time he became a Vice-Mayor for the City of Manila, including at how they handled the August 2010 Manila Hostage Crisis. He did not directly proved to Inday Barretto who he is right now, but for those who can remember, especially if we mention Claudine Barretto and the rest of Barretto family, look at Isko right now!

As I’ve checked, Isko even had the priviledge to have a crash course in Crisis Management at  Harvard University, which could be useful for public service.

Imagine this, even if it is a short course, the fact that you have studied at Harvard University will make you look BIG TIME, regardless of what country you come from. Kaya you will understand bakit nagmamayabang minsan si Ma’am Miriam Defensor Santiago kasi bukod sa UP, Harvard at Cambridge nakapag-aral iyan.

Ni sa UP they never bothered to spend their college life there. I understand na artista sila, but being an artista is not a reason NOT to pursue your College degree. I doubt she even finished High School.

It’s just that I can’t help reminiscin’ this thing.
